It was Halloween night, and all of the kids were out in their costumes enjoying their night before school the next morning. However, for 21 year old Novak Svensson this night was a nightmare. Novak was doing his part in the community that night by handing out candy to all of the children who rang upon his doorbell. As the clock had just struck 1:00, Novak set aside his cask or sweets and set off for bed. All was going well right up until he heard a noise from his basement. Curious to seek said noise, he traveled sluggishly towards the flight of stairs.
Novak approached the stairs and ever so carefully proceeded to walk down. He saw a young gentlemen creeping about in his basement trying to open up Novak's hidden safe. The young gentlemen had not noticed Novak due to the swiftness of his feet. Novak was shocked yet not frightened. Novak's intruder was distracted by the thick safe, so Novak had time to think about what he could do. He thought to himself two things: one being call 911, two being destroy him. Without a doubt in his wicked mind, Novak chose option number two and then continued to try and find a weapon. Novak was looking for something metal or sharp, basically something that could do the job quickly. Eventually he came across a sharp, rusty machete that he kept from his trip to Costa Rica. Novak quietly came around the corner seeing that the young gentlemen was still working on the safe. Novak then ran towards him, keeping his mouth closed, and swung with both hands at his neck. He was dead, but Novak continued to slice away until he say a blue, transparent cloud forming around the stranger's body. It was a ghost, the man's own ghost had risen from the body. Novak stood there in fear then reacted. Novak swung once at the ghost, with no affect, and then ran out his basement door. He had never been ever so scared in his lifetime.

Powerless
In the Novel Of Mice and Men, two main characters, Lennie and George go through their lives always chasing their dream of living on a ranch. In the end of the story Lennie and George are set in a ravine, the same ravine in which the story had started. Lennie once again asks George to tell him about the ranch. They both then hear the sound of men coming after them. George then suggests that they go to that ranch right now. George proceeds to raise Carlson's gun to Lennie's head and shoots. Both of the men were powerless and I believe that George had made the right decision. I have felt powerless before, quite a few times in fact.
Just one of the many times i have felt powerless takes place in Virginia. I was at one of Tae-Kwon-Do tournaments at the time. Our classes were divided by belt, age, and weight. I was set into my class and put into a room where I saw all of my opponents. Then I over heard one of the class organizers talking about me to the rest of the organizers. Apparently I was a bit bigger than everyone else in my class, so he moved me up to a way bigger class. I mean bigger as in taller, heavier, and older. To say the least I was scared for my life, for I was just a small lad and these kids were huge. I was reluctant to say anything because I felt that it would be a sign of weakness. So I stayed, and was eventually led out into the arena along with everyone else. There were loads of people watching us enter. I was the first one to enter the arena, and then I saw my opponent. He was huge, at least twice as big as me. The judges didn't even care that it wasn't fair. I was helpless, powerless. I was truly powerless; there was no backing out, just him and you and five minutes of pain. The referee than said "Start". I was terrified and frustrated at the same time. Which didn't help me at all to fight. I was just trying to avoid his kicks as much as I could until he hit me. The pain was dreadful, and I honestly started to cry that it was that bad. I suffered through the five minutes getting kicked so hard. I got yelled at as well in between the rounds. It turned out really bad, but you learn from your mistakes.
